How to get this resource
This is the master template for how the group issues guidance. Download the PDF for the full document; the summary is below.
What an empowerment is: a structured, issued set of tasks and methods given to a member, with a check-in rhythm and accountability built in. It is not a suggestion — it is something issued with the expectation of follow-through.
The template has 7 reusable routes:
1) Cognitive Reframing (the 3:1 ratio) — catch a negative thought, write it down, generate three grounded counter-perspectives, pick one to hold onto. Good for self-critical thoughts, comparison spirals, "I do not measure up" loops.
2) Journaling and Written Expression — free write, prompt-based, or structured log. Gets thoughts out of your head and onto paper where you can look at them. Good for diffuse, hard-to-name distress and pattern spotting.
3) Breathing and Nervous System Regulation — box breathing (4-4-4-4), extended exhale (4-8), physiological sigh. The long exhale drives the body toward calm. Good for acute anxiety, before stress points, after triggers.
4) Body Neutrality and Body Awareness — treat the body as something that exists and functions, not as a project to be judged. Neutral description instead of evaluation. Good for body image distress and mirror-triggered negativity.
5) Gratitude and Positive Receipt — name small, specific things that were okay. Counter-weights the brain tendency to grab problems more than good things. Good for negativity bias and daily wind-down.
6) Accountability and Check-In Structure — the thing that makes the other routes actually happen. Daily quick check-in plus weekly review. The check-in is data, not performance.
7) Physical Self-Care Baseline — sleep, food, movement, hygiene as operating requirements. When these are off, everything else is harder. Stabilize one thing first.
How to use it: fill in the header (recipient, empowerment ID, date, primary scenario, review cadence, issued by). Pick the routes that fit the person. Set the daily and weekly check-in prompts. Set escalation triggers for when something is bigger than the group can handle. Reuse the template for each new person — swap in different routes per scenario.
The PDF also includes example packages for body image / mental health, addiction recovery, stress / burnout, grief / loss, and general low mood, plus escalation triggers and a quick-fill block.
